This week has been tough for Kenyan art. The ongoing Venice Biennale has been a major punch in the face to our Kenyan artists who were expecting to showcase their work at the Biennale curated by our very own Okwui Enwezor. It seems the Venice Biennale got royally fooled by unscrupulous Kenyan policy makers and a handful of Chinese who are now representing Kenya at the world-class art exhibition. Michael Soi, one of Kenya’s top artists, responded to the Chinese take over of our stand through art. His art piece has since gone viral – NPR and Okayafrica.
